Why We Are HereAcross the United States, there are poor, rural communities that not only suffer economically, but also suffer from the increased depression, suicide, drug abuse, divorce, and general breakdown of the family that poverty often brings. Churches, pregnancy centers, shelters and other Christian groups in these areas frequently do not have a way to effectively reach out to their larger community - not just because of economics, but because communicating to a group of people spread over a large, sparse regions is a big challenge. While local newspapers provide some opportunities to connect with those in need, their distribution is frequently limited, and require the reader to pay for the paper. In areas fortunate enough to have a local radio or television station, air time is often available, but it is often far too expensive for smaller ministries. To make matters worse, the training and resources for producing programming are not within reach. The costs, skills, and lack of outlets creates a gap between the local Christian community and one of the most powerful means of outreach available – Radio. Solid Foundation Broadcasting was formed to respond to these needs, and through a desire to share Christ. We are addressing this “access gap”, by establishing community-based Christian radio stations in rural, challenged areas of the United States. Through these stations, we provide low cost airtime to local Churches and Christian organizations. We also provide low cost copy-writing, editing, mentoring, and other media-related services for ministries with a desire to use media as an outreach.
