Why Here?

This region (see map) is marked by poverty rates well above the national average, and has an economy based predominately in manufacturing and agriculture. Unemployment is higher than the national average, and the 2006-2007 median income was 16% lower than the remainder of the United States. Two counties in the reception area, Greene County and Sullivan County, have a poverty rate that is 60% higher than the US national average. Constructing this station presents a wonderful opportunity to reach the community for Christ, and to provide a resource for local Christian organizations to do the same.

What's Different About This Station?

Quite frequently, air time is very expensive, even in regions where the population is low. Our primary goal is to make air time very affordable to churches, pregnancy centers, shelters and other Christian groups that couldn't otherwise use radio as an outreach. By utilizing an all volunteer engineering oversight board, coupled with other local volunteers and part time staff, we can keep our overhead very low and pass those savings on to other organizations in the community. We also provide low cost copy-writing and editing, along with free mentoring to help the Christian community more effectively reach the people around them.

If you share our vision, we encourage to you check out how You Can Make A Difference. We are beginning construction on this project in early-mid 2010, and with your help, we can enable Churches, pregnancy centers, shelters and other Christian groups to reach this region cheaply and effectively.

Project Status

We have successfully raised our power level to 17kW, and have begun to place equipment orders and finalize leases. We anticipate starting construction in early-mid 2010.
